Your Blue to My Grey

You like the blue in the sky,
You love the sunny days,
Chilled summer drink in hand,
Three or more ice cubes clinking,
That sundress from winter’s sale,
30% off,
Saved for these kinda days.

You call friends, ready to go out,
“IT IS A BEAUTIFUL DAY,” you say.

I too like colours, like the grey.
I sip my ginger tea,
Wear warm pyjamas,
Cover myself with a blanket,
Looking like a teddy,

Watching the view outside the window.
“IT IS A BEAUTIFUL DAY,” I say.

You’re ready to explore,
Cheers to the memories you’ll make.
Pink sundress looking good with the blue,

I’m ready too,
Red velvet-covered book,
Cozy blanket, tea all set.
No hashtags, no vibes, just me.

You breathe into the sky,
Bright smile on your sun-kissed face,
Eyes squinting against the shining sun,
Can’t see the vast blue sky,

You let the warmth sink in, and call it your peace.

I watch the grey clouds,
Calm and steady,
Wind ghoul screaming,
Trees swaying,
Tiny water droplets tapping on my window.
I let them all in,
Chill sinking into my skin,
A quick shiver runs through me.

I let my head out the window,
Look at the open sky with wide blue eyes,
A faded smile curls my lips,
In the end, I too call it my peace.
